Parents are the first and foremost catechists of their children. Our Religious Education programs for children and youth in grades 1-12 hope to instill Catholic values and teach a love of Christ and Church. Our programs will be successful only if the faith is practiced in the home. The task of the Religious Education programs are to support and encourage parents while providing accurate church teachings.
Religious Education for Students in Grades 1-12
Faith Formation (Grades 1st-5th)
Our Faith Formation program is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for one hour each week beginning with a Parent/Child meeting in the fall.
First Communion Sacramental Preparation
The Diocese of Venice requires children preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist to complete two years of Faith Formation, as well as, attend special sacramental sessions. Parents or guardians are also required to attend special sacramental sessions. Since these Sacraments are usually received while children are in 2nd grade, preparation for them should begin at the beginning of the school year when a child is entering into 1st grade at school.
- If your child is in need of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion and has already completed a year of formal religious education, please be sure to register your child for Faith Formation.
- Next, attend the Parent/Child meeting for your registered Faith Formation day and time on either Tuesday, September 8th, 2015 or Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 for more information concerning sacramental preparation requirements.
Middle School (Grades 6th-8th) & High School (Grades 9th-12th)
Our Middle School & High School Youth Groups meet on Sundays following the 5:00 pm Mass (6:15-8:00pm).
Confirmation Sacramental Preparation
Within the Diocese of Venice the preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two year process beginning in the ninth grade and culminating with the reception of the Sacrament at the end of tenth grade. Participation in Sunday night Youth Group is a pre-requisite for entering into the Sacramental Preparation.
