Faith Information
Faith is a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and our Faith Formation programs for children are designed for grades 1 through 10. Many dedicated catechists volunteer their time and talent to witness to the children of our parish their experience of Church as a Christian Community living together as the Body of Christ. As joyful messengers they proclaim the Good News of our salvation in Jesus Christ and our commitment to serve one another.
Our Faith Formation programs are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for one hour each week. Scripture and Liturgy are discussed, also, the Liturgical Seasons of the Church, Sacraments and other text related topics. Our programs provide helpful suggestions on how God speaks to us and our families on a daily basis.
Faith Formation Sacramental Preparation
Preparation for the celebration of the Sacraments is primarily the privilege and responsibility of the parents. Our catechists and Faith Formation team will happily assist you and your child during this blessed and spiritual journey.
Children in their second year of Faith Formation begin preparing for the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist, which is usually during the second grade. Requirements for the celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist include:
- Attending the registration and parent meetings
- Attending Faith Formation sessions on a weekly basis
- The ability to make the Sign of the Cross and recite the Our Father and Hail Mary
- Celebrating Mass regularly with our Catholic Community
- An appropriate understanding of the “real presence” of Christ in the Eucharist
Within the Diocese of Venice the preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two year process beginning in the ninth grade and culminating with the reception of the Sacrament at the end of tenth grade.
